Celebrating New Year’s Eve with Children – Pancakes

What else was there? My husband is currently practicing playing the ukulele. The children listened to him spellbound and occasionally played around on the instrument. Then my sister-in-law got out her guitar. While she was strumming on the guitar, she sang us songs such as “Ein Bett im Kornfeld”. There were also children’s songs. The children were also very taken with the guitar and later coaxed a few notes out of it.

It was similar to a child’s birthday party. We played pin the tail on the donkey. My younger nephew always told us where to hide the donkey. But towards the end he managed it without knowing where we had hidden the donkey.

At some point the children were so agitated that they had small accidents now and then. A few tears were shed. The little man, for example, fell forwards on his head on the living room floor (did he trip?). I could tell you more stories, but I’ll leave that for now. It’s just part of it, I think. And somewhere, sometime, I heard from someone that it’s better if small accidents happen in childhood.
